In 2005, scientists discovered that a modification in a genetics that impacts the healthy protein JAK2 appears to play a role in PV development. JAK2 is one in a collection of on/off buttons that manage when cells expand and separate. In PV, this on/off switch is stuck in the on setting, triggering cell growth to proceed. |
