Viewing the story as it is read helps the child better understand the action. Practice visualization with your child as you read a story. Encourage her to draw the action that happens in her mind; doing this helps you have a concrete representation of the story. Ask her to describe the image for you so that you can appreciate how well it reflects the story, thus assessing her understanding.
