Factors and methods used in practice and in attempted suicide: a literature review / Fatores e métodos utilizados na prática e na tentativa do suicídio: uma revisão da literatura
Resumo
Objective: To identify, analyze and discuss the factors and methods used in practice and attempt suicide. Methodology: This study is a literature review that used the database to Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), with descriptors: suicide, attempted suicide and mental health. We selected 10 articles from 2005 to 2010 that were analyzed in categories and presented in tables. Results: showed that the main factors were psychological, social, genetic, cultural and biological. The methods were found more exogenous intoxication, harmful use of alcohol / drugs and violent means which triggered this. However, the practice of suicide is more common among men, while attempting this event is prevalent among women. This is due to the fact that they use the most decisive ways, while they less traumatic devices. Conclusion: Suicide is a major public health problem, which has become of paramount importance its study, due to various factors and methods involved, as observed earlier, could prevent deaths caused self.
